A durian fruit farm at Baguio District, Davao City.
Durian trees are generally cultivated all over the Davao region and understood to have existed in Mindanao even before the arrival of the Spanish era. Durian fruits possess a hard, spiky shell but the flesh is rather soft, juicy and creamy. Though to some the odor seems repulsive, the durian is still and popularly enjoyed in Davao.
Durian fruits hang over a tree. “Smells like hell, but tastes like heaven”, others have said.
When a durian fruit becomes ripe, it just falls from a tree.
